Liz- That was Kinky Friedman- the Economist and advocate of laissez-faire capitalism.

There was also Milton friedman- the Jewish Country & Western Singer.

Dean composed most of the "Boon" music and also did the Boing-di-boing at Eureka, the Children's museum in Halifax, Yorkshire. He does not have a Bastard Son, despite Half Man Half Biscuit claims to the contrary.

I was going to say, 'Who is Dean Friedman?' I thought he was that man who wrote a book about economics that Maggie liked.

Chip, I'll see you back in 69 days then!

He was a welcome antidote to Punk versus Disco in the late 70s and he has done some good stuff since then.

Beyond the veneer of the soft ballad and the strange whiney voice, he writes some disturbing songs about difficult topics.

After spending the night live blogging Eurovision and the morning with free copy of Anarchy in the UK in the Sunday Times, discovering who Dean Friedman via a quick trawl of the web was like waking up after a very good dream. I have an MP3 of his playing now and it puts me in full agreement with Mrs. Grey.

Unless that picture comes down soon, Ian, you'll be keeping a certain Welsh thongman away too...

'Oh Lydia... Lydia... Lydia do you know that I love you...'
