Nuts to Nutella
I’ve been suckered by marketing hype. I’d been advised that nuts were a good snack for diabetics, provided they weren’t peanuts. Now Nutella is made from hazlenuts and I’ve found it a few times in hotels abroad at breakfast.
Now flash forwards to a week or two ago in ASDA, where Nutella was on 2 for 1. Picking up a jar, I was seduced by the packaging, which said
packed
with over
50 HAZLENUTS
A GLASS OF
SKIMMED MILK*
AND A LITTLE
COCOA**
On getting round to trying it on toast, however, I couldn’t believe how syrupy it was. A look on the back explained all…
INGREDIENTS: SUGAR, VEGETABLE OIL, HAZLENUTS (13%), etc.
Yes but still free of the dreaded peanuts, yes?

I actually came from bloglines to comment on this post and got sidetracked by your Photo Hunt.
Yes sugar! The main ingredient! It is so sweet I can’t stand it.
But for your little healthy snack count out fifteen to twenty whole almonds and enjoy.
Don’t forget to read the labels.

i’m not sure how you react to fruit, but perhaps you may yet finds a friend in pineapple, or berries; both of which are candy-like foods…and oh, so good.
