When the siren sounds…
I saw this in a sixties building recently. Still turned on- I thought the cold war was over!
(I thought that switching it off in an emergency might defeat the point somewhat)

Reminds me of windscreen wipers over here which stop working when it rains. They’re usually fine up to that point.

I broke some window wipers in Canada- the cars were rent-a-wreck and the blades froze to the windscreen.
