I received a rather nice request from someone recently asking permission to use one of my blog photos for “a project”. This blog is creative commons (as seen in the sidebar) which means free non-commercial use with attribution but I got to wondering what they would want it for outside of these terms. The requester was a Ph.D with a dozen or so books written in Law and clinical psychology along with training videos & DVDs so why a well known American Academic wanted one of my snapshots was puzzling.
The answer was unexpected but delightfully Shadesish- a thematic backdrop for the wall in a recording studio in SF, California!
I have been promised a photo of how the studio eventually looks when they enlarge it and fix it up to the wall. (I’m slightly worried that it isn’t sharp enough, no tripod used!) I’m really looking forward to receiving that in due course, if only to give me something to blog about, or break the ice in parties.
Something to add to the “ten unusual things people don’t know about you” meme.
As a bit of fun, have a guess what the blogpost was probably about then take a look and then guess which photo they wanted. Then have a guess why in the comments. (I don’t know either, but have some hunches).
- Original Blogpost
- The chosen Photo (small, screen size)
- Non-scaled Photo (full size, 1 Meg)

It’s a great photo - be interested to see what it looks like blown up !

Womble- it will look bigger! I’ve seen photos of the studios but I don’t want to name who or which as I haven’t had that agreed and it might not happen anyway

Glad you got a post idea from the request. I think it is a very good photo but as you say, blown up may be a different story. But they will use technology to make it just fine.

It’s a good atmospheric photo and I think it’s nice to be asked. The fun of blogging is sharing and commenting on other people’s experiances.

Ms S, agreed, although I find the fun is also in the composition.
