Our Grey clan were a Gray clan back in the mists of time, from Perth, I believe. The story goes that my great, great, great grandfather (+/- a couple of generations) moved to Newcastle and was very impressed with <a href="http://www.bbc.co.uk/tyne/content/panoramas/360_greystreet.shtml" rel="nofollow">Grey Street</a> and <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Grey's_Monument" rel="nofollow">Grey's Monument</a>. It was probably the <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Earl_Grey_tea" rel="nofollow">tea</a> that persuaded him to change his name by deed poll. JMB- says you!
