Another new camera

Little more than a year ago, I took my Kodak pocket camera out for a stroll and spotted something amusing on the facade of the Numptorium.

I now have another camera, a FujiFilm S8000. This looks more like an SLR (although it isn’t) and has the benefit of image stabilisation. This means that I can counteract any camera shake when zoomed in. Zooming in is something it does with gusto- it has an 18x optical zoom. Here are a few Morley shots from the weekend.

It doesn’t go as wide as the Kodak but collects more light so should give more detailed shots. It has its first theatre outing this week, hopefully I will have got the hang of it by then..

Two days late…

“We declare and pledge that in all our actions and deliberations the interests of the English people shall be paramount.

We further declare and pledge that our actions and deliberations shall be directed to the following ends:

To assert the right of the English people to live in a sovereign nation state of England, free of foreign control;

To agree a scheme for a Parliament for England;

To mobilise English opinion and ensure the approval of the English people for that scheme;

and to assert the right of the English people to secure the implementation of that scheme.”

The English claim of right

(Languishing in my drafts folder, oops!)

The curse of faith

Pat Condell on fine form…

Fahrenheit 451

The trouble with old books is that they smell musty. My new set of Understanding Science Encyclopedias appear to have been stored in a loft for the last forty years, they smell like a trip to Hay on Wye.

They are banned from our bedroom overnight by Karen (I had to put the one I was reading out in the hall at lights out) and David complained vociferously about the stale odour in the kitchen this morning, claiming it was putting him off his breakfast.

Philistines! No book burning here!

St Georges Day

Today’s Morley obtiser has a large feature on the weekend festivities. I can’t believe they slipped up so badly with this caption though…

The Beeb has a feature, called England’s most patriotic town? (Probably music to the ears of the Nationalist Socialists though, regrettably)

Here is a YouTube by Happysaks of the parade, taken in Scatcherd Lane on the way to the Rugby Club.
