		<description>I've never seen the gonad shields so can't comment on your fanciful explanation but the thyroid shield is that little extra specially shaped one they put around your neck to fit close.  It is easy to forget.  Of course they leave the room or go behind a wall.  When they use the portable Xray machines in the ICCU or emerg they shout Xray and everyone in the vicinity dashes behind the nearest wall, including the pharmacy people!</description>
