Chervil, most of our regular post to our house is in the form of bills, although I am a Society Treasurer so I do get post related to that. David has his weekly Beano to look forward to, whilst I get assorted magazines at assorted intervals.

I've made a note of the planetarium site you mentioned for future reference.

Funny story about the mail! At least it sounds like you still get real mail - all we get is invoices, as everybody else only sends emails these days.

But more to the topic - Have you come across this fabulous website http://www.stellarium.org/? It has free software that shows all the stars and planets and more. Our boys have been exploring it over recent weeks and they absolutely loved it.

PJ, the Acorn Atom was Acorn's first home computer and the BBC Micro followed on from it a few years later, based on the Acorn Electron (or Proton).

Having had a Black Watch and a couple of calculators I was wary of the ZX80 and ZX81, I wanted a full size keyboard!

The Atom used a 6502 CPU, as did the early Apple Series. Most of the others used a rival CPU called the Z80 from some outfit called Intel.

This did make me chuckle.

Never heard of the Acorn Atom, I thought it was only Sinclair did that sort of thing in 1980. And I recall they took months to turn up as well.

Didn't Acorn make the BBC Microcomputer? I did my computer studies 0-level on that, and something called the 380Z which was the size of a suitcase and went "bip".

No train set as such, although he had a rather neat Thomas the Tank Engine set that moved plastic balls around Sodor by various means. (It was passed on to another Mum with a younger child just last week in an infant toy clearout).

I was given a super looper scalextric type racing car set for my 50th birthday and David and I spent a happy hour or two playing with it but it takes ages to set up and fills most of the lounge.

Nearly as good as a father and son train kit, which no doubt you already have. I'm sure photos will follow the completion.
