The end of a year…

Filed under: It's the economy stupid!, troughing — Shades @ 7:54 pm

The last new years eve party we went to was as a couple, not a family. The last couple of years, David has wanted to stay up but flagged as the evening went on, so a couple of years back we have taken to going out for the evening. We fancied the West Yorkshire Playhouse Peter Pan but when they published the dates it wasn’t on today, so the fallback is the flicks. That will keep us busy until 10pm or so.

Forecasts for 2009? All bets are off, apart from the UK economy.

Push the handle for fiscal stimulus…

Update 2009- or should that be quantitative easing?

Sometimes, you have to let go

I’m having a little keyboard trouble at the moment- I inadvertently leaked a liqueur chocolate onto my keyboard so the t and y keys are a bit crusty and intermittent  (a hard word to type, that one). Counter-intuitively, it means that I actually proof read what I put a bit more diligently.

Anyway, a trip to the tip was in order today and it was finally time to say goodbye to David’s toddler chair. He can’t fit in it anymore and neither can any of his cousins. For the last couple of years it has been a sticker repository and today it took its final journey this afternoon along with a nest of clapped-out coffee tables, some extraneous packaging and several carrier bags of low grade happy meal dross.

This wasn’t a Christmas pesent but I treated myself to it this afternoon in the sales. (Well, an ASDA price check, £7)

Bill Bailey is rather strange, very surreal and often stunningly funny. Here is his take on National Anthems from his latest DVD.

Turkey in the toilet…

The halls are decked, Tommy is defrosting (in the downstairs loo sink) and all the provisions are bought in.

Karen got up early to go to ASDA at 6am this morning, to be confronted with lots of empty shgelves in the greengrocery section. Anyway, I nipped into Morley Market after work to stock up on a few missing items, including something for the Reindeer.

An eclectic selection of ornaments from around the world (well, the World Showcase at Epcot, actually)David made this pipe cleaner angel as an ankle biter many years agoDavid reckons that Rudolph steals the limelight too much...

A very merry Christmas from the Grey family to Shades of Grey followers all round the world. Have a good holiday!
